Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP)
The core principle of NLP is “If you always do what you’ve always done you will always get what you’ve always got.” So if your current behaviour is unconsciously not getting you what you want in your life, then by making this behaviour conscious, you can make informed choices and see positive results.
NLP looks at how we process experiences and how we choose to respond to them. We can choose to look at or feel about something in a certain way, e.g. – an important meeting. You can choose to think that it is going to go badly or you can choose to think that it will go well. You can consciously make the choice of HOW to think. We can also consciously change the way we speak in order to get a different response.
The next time someone asks you how you are, instead of replying with your usual, “Not bad.” Try saying, “I’m very well thanks.” The mere mention of the word “bad” indicates that maybe you have felt bad recently or they are used to you feeling bad. We are also a product of our own limiting beliefs. Try replacing the words “if” and “try” with “when” and notice how straight away the belief is a positive one. “If I try and do my best I might pass my exams” indicates some level of failure in mind, however, “When I do my best I will pass my exams” already suggests that failure is not an option. By matching preferences with the person you are communicating with, you can achieve a better rapport and relationship.
NLP helps us to make sense of our experience (both conscious and unconscious) and we can try new patterns of both behaviour and language to help us achieve our full potential.
I am a fully qualified NLP practitioner and I often use a lot of these techniques in my sessions, either in or out of hypnosis. When you book in for your session, you will experience positive results!
